A $10,000 reward is being offered for information on a log truck driver who left the scene of a crash that killed a Corinth man two years ago.

Friday will mark the two-year anniversary of the crash that killed Corinth resident Neil Garner, 73, near the state line on Highway 142 in Hardin County. The log truck driver who left the scene has still not been found.

Garner was on his way home at about 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2016, when the crash occurred three miles from his home in Corinth.

His wife, Claressa Garner, of Corinth, said two empty log trucks were traveling behind her husband’s Lincoln Town Car. The log truck in the back passed the other log truck.

The log truck then attempted to pass Garner, but a car was approaching. The log truck tried to move back into its lane but struck the tail end of Garner’s vehicle, which went into a spin, hit trees and then came back on the road and struck the car that the log truck had tried to avoid.

Garner was pronounced dead at the scene, and both log trucks left the area, said Claressa Garner.

It is believed the drivers of the two log trucks may have known each other since they both left the scene. The log trucks may have just dropped off their timber at the papermill at Pickwick and gone back into Mississippi.

Claressa Garner said she wants to find out who the log truck driver was to give “closure” to the tragedy. She also wants people to know the case is still open.

Crime Stoppers will provide a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver who struck Garner’s vehicle.
