Pedestrians Hit, One Killed, in Two Separate Highway Incidents

Staff reports

A Corinth pedestrian was killed Friday night, and in a separate incident Monday two teenage pedestrians were still alive after being struck by a vehicle.

In the fatal incident on Friday, Ronnie Russell, 64, was apparently walking in the roadway of State Highway 370 in Tippah County when he was struck by a vehicle at about 7:55pm.

Troopers are still investigating the incident in which the two teens were struck by a vehicle Monday on State Highway 2 near Kossuth.

It appeared the 16-year-old and 17-year-old were walking in the roadway when they both were struck by a westbound vehicle, according to the highway patrol.

Both teens were airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis, and the driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The patrol responded to the wreck involving the teens at about 9 p.m.
