A 38-year-old Corinth woman turned herself in to the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday after tobacco and cash were allegedly found hidden in a Bible to be given to an inmate, according to Sheriff Ben Caldwell.
Donita Patterson, of Norman Road, allegedly attempted to introduce contraband to the Alcorn County Jail, a sheriff’s office news release states.
Patterson allegedly gave the Bible and other items to jail staff during visitation day to deliver to an inmate at the county jail.
The tobacco and cash were allegedly found hidden under the Bible cover when officers at the jail checked the items, the release adds.
The investigation into the incident was conducted by Sheriff’s Office Investigator Adam Rencher and Jail Administrator Steve Wilburn.
