Victim Suffers Facial Injuries, Airlifted, Sheriff Says
By Josh Mitchell/Corinth Today
A delivery driver was injured by a pit bull north of Farmington and airlifted to a hospital Friday afternoon, Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell said.
The dog had not been located as of 5 p.m. Friday.
The driver was delivering a package to the residence and suffered injuries to the head and face, Caldwell said.
Authorities were called at about 3 p.m to County Road 192, which is north of Farmington and near the Tennessee state line.
Anyone who sees a stray pit bull in the area is asked to please call the authorities. Deputies and an animal control officer attempted to locate the dog.
The behavior seemed “out of the ordinary” for the dog, said Caldwell. Normally, it stayed indoors but got outside somehow, the sheriff added.
It was not aggressive when it was around a healthcare worker at the house earlier in the day, Caldwell noted.
You cannot drive down that road without seeing a pit bull running loose, I am surprised it has taken this long for an attack such as this to occur.
