Alcorn County Coroner Jay Jones has identified the person killed in a crash involving two motorcycles Friday morning near Rienzi on State Highway 356.

Jones said the person killed in the wreck was James W. Childers, 61, of Alcorn County.

Childers lived fairly close to where the wreck occurred and died at the scene of the crash.

The crash was reported at around 9 a.m. by the intersection of County Road 452, about four miles east of Rienzi.

A dead deer was also on the side of the road by the crash scene.

One of the motorcycles was on its side in the middle of the highway and the other was on the shoulder of the road.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol was in charge of the crash investigation.

Other agencies assisted at the scene, including the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office, Magnolia Ambulance, Biggersville Fire & Rescue and Alcorn County Constable Wayne Duncan.
