Woman Airlifted to Memphis
An Alcorn County woman was airlifted to Memphis on Thursday afternoon after she was injured in an accidental shooting, according to Sheriff Ben Caldwell.
Her condition is unknown at this time.
Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at around 2:45 p.m. to a report of a female who had been shot in the chest with a .22 caliber handgun.
The incident took place at a residence on County Road 755.
“Based on the initial investigation there is no sign of foul play,” a news release from Sheriff Caldwell states. “At this time, the shooting has been determined to be accidental.”
