A tree fell on an Alcorn County house several miles east of Kossuth during a storm Wednesday night. No one was hurt, but the home was damaged.
Robert Wolfe said he and his wife had recently arrived home after celebrating the Fourth of July with family in Jacinto when the storm hit.
The large hickory tree fell on the County Road 505 house at about 9:45 p.m., about 15 minutes after they got home, said Robert Wolfe.
His wife was in the living room when the tree crashed through the attic and into an upstairs bedroom and hallway, causing water damage to the lower level of the house.
Wolfe was walking back inside from moving his truck when his wife said a tree had fallen on the house.
The storm developed quickly, said Wolfe, adding that they were “blessed” to escape injury.
Wolfe praised the work of the Kossuth Volunteer Fire Department, which cut part of the tree off the house during the night and covered the damaged roof with tarps.
