The name of the Kossuth Middle School coach who was arrested Wednesday at the school has been released by Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell.
Micah Macay Wilbanks, 29, of County Road 520, Corinth, was arrested for suspicion of public intoxication, a sheriff’s office news release said.
Wilbanks was also allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia used to smoke the drug, the release added.
Wilbanks was transported to the Alcorn County Jail and has been charged with public intoxication, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
An investigation into another matter is ongoing, and authorities are in the process of scheduling a probable cause hearing, which is required since Wilbanks is a teacher and was on duty at the time of the alleged incident.
Wilbanks was being held in the Alcorn County Jail on Thursday afternoon awaiting an initial appearance on his current charges.
