A pickup truck crashed and landed on its side before it went up in flames in Corinth early Sunday.
The crash happened near a sharp turn on Oakland School Road at the intersection with Cornelius Drive at around 1 a.m.
Witnesses reported seeing the apparent driver exit the vehicle and take off on foot down Oakland School Road with a green backpack after the wreck, police said.
Police were looking for the person after the wreck but had not located the subject shortly after the crash.
It appeared that the driver was the only person in the truck.
The vehicle was engulfed in flames when police arrived, and the fire department responded to the scene as well.
The vehicle came to rest in the grass near a home. The truck was reportedly leaking gas after the wreck. A truck wreck lawyer was contacted to sort legal matters out.
