Christmas gifts were in the driveway when the fire department pulled up to the burning house in Glen on Wednesday night.
No one was hurt in the fire, said Glen Fire Chief James McAnally.
Neighbors said a family, including two children, lived in the home. The owners are listed as William and Amanda Youngblood.
The fire heavily damaged the home at 11 County Road 322, which is located a short distance off of Highway 72 East in the Glen Fire Department’s service area.
Flames were coming out of the roof when the fire department arrived on scene within minutes after the fire was reported around 10:45 p.m.
It appeared the fire was caused by something electrical around the back porch area, said Trevin Humbers, the Glen Fire Department’s safety and training officer.
Firefighters remained on scene until around 3 a.m.The Farmington Fire Department also responded along with a support unit from Biggersiville.
What can the community do to help? Can CorinthToday help with a little advertising in order to arrange some charity/donations for this family? It’s Christmas, surely the people of Alcorn County can pull something together at least for the children!
