Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help with a major career expo for students Oct. 3-5 at the BancorpSouth Arena and Conference Center in Tupelo.
The expo is called Imagine the Possibilities and features 18 career pathways to provide more than 7,000 eighth-grade students from 17 Northeast Mississippi counties an understanding of opportunities available after high school.
Volunteer time slots are Oct. 3, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Oct. 4, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Oct. 5, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sept. 29 is the deadline to register as a volunteer.
The Toyota Wellspring Education Fund at the CREATE Foundation is the lead sponsor.
Each student will have 120 minutes to experience four to eight pathways, which are aligned with the Career Pathways set forth by the Mississippi Department of Education.
Volunteer tasks include registering visitors, providing expo information, distributing caps and bags, restocking hats and bags, greeting and managing school buses, greeting students and guests, directing students to the arena floor, making announcements, guiding students to the entrances and exits and maintaining the flow of students.
All volunteers will be provided with a T-shirt at check-in. Wear comfortable shoes for walking or standing, and pants or shorts are appropriate. Volunteers will be provided with breakfast or lunch as well as drinks during breaks.
