An Alcorn County bridge that has been described as “very unsafe” could soon have repairs coming.
Corinth Today last week visited the bridge and looked under the structure with 4th District Supervisor Steve Glidewell.
The bridge has a noticeable crack in one of the beams, and the plan is to replace that part of the bridge, which is located on County Road 632.
Glidewell said he is “excited” that the bridge may be fixed soon.
“We think it will get fixed in the pretty near term,” Glidewell said.
The county is seeking help from the Tombigbee River Valley Water Management District to make repairs to the bridge, which has a 4-ton load limit.

The county supervisors Tuesday approved a resolution regarding the 4th District seeking assistance from the Tombigbee organization, which meets March 8.
While the bridge has a low traffic count, Johnny Crotts, who works for the county’s engineering firm, said, “Any bridge that’s got traffic on it needs to be kept in good repair.”
Crotts said the Tombigbee district “helps fill a void” when it comes to funding projects.
During a tour of roads and bridges in his district last week, Glidewell pointed out many unfavorable conditions that need to be addressed.
Alcorn County is one 12 counties that are part of the Tombigbee River Valley Water Management District.
How bout fixing all the roads!!
