Money is being raised to purchase a wheelchair lift for the Crossroads Arena in Corinth.

People can buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win $5,000 to support the cause.

Leadership Alcorn, which is offered through The Alliance, is undertaking the wheelchair lift project to help people with disabilities and other conditions more easily access the arena floor.

“It will be a quality of life enhancement for a lot of people,” said Brent Johnson, director of Main Street Corinth and a member of the Leadership Alcorn Class.

The Leadership Alcorn Class is offered every two years and helps build leadership skills.

“It’s an ongoing betterment for us as individuals so that we’re able to benefit both the community and our employers,” Johnson said.

The class is made up of professionals from employers such as the hospital, Caterpillar, ACE Power, Kimberly-Clark, Main Street Corinth, Zaxby’s and other local firms.

The raffle drawing will be March 1 at Zaxby’s, and 100 tickets are being sold for $100 apiece. The winner of the raffle will get $5,000, and the other $5,000 will go toward the purchase of the wheelchair lift, Johnson said.

The Crossroads Arena is already compliant with the American with Disabilities Act, Johnson said. But the wheelchair lift will just be another amenity for the facility, he noted.

Anyone interested in buying a raffle ticket or making a donation can contact The Alliance at 662–287-5269.

On the night of the raffle drawing, Zaxby’s will donate a portion of food sales to the cause if people present an event flier.
