Police have a suspect in custody in the fatal shooting of a store clerk this morning in Corinth, Police Chief Ralph Dance said.
Corinth Police have released the name of the woman who died after being shot multiple times at the Mapco station on U.S. Highway 72 East this morning.
The woman was 43-year-old Kris Ledlow of Corinth, officials say.
Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance said two black males entered the store at about 5:30 a.m. and “attempted to rob the lady.”
The chief added that, “One of the black males shot her several times” and “she passed away shortly thereafter.”
Nothing was taken from the store, and both fled on foot, the chief said.
The woman’s body will be taken to the crime lab in Jackson for an autopsy, according to Alcorn County Coroner Jay Jones.
The victim’s mom lives in Henderson County, Tenn., and the victim’s two daughters live in the Lee County area, Jones added.
