Caterpillar on Friday announced that the company will reduce its workforce by about 670 jobs across numerous states and China.
Fortunately, job losses were not announced for Corinth. In fact, the company said some work from Lafayette, Ind. will be transferred to the Corinth remanufacturing hub.
Caterpillar facilities in Mississippi plan to add about 45 positions over the next few years as a result of continued global consolidation of its engine remanufacturing business, a news release says.
No layoffs are anticipated in Lafayette, Ind. as a result of some of the work being transferred to Corinth, the release says.
The statement also says that Caterpillar will continue its restructuring and cost reduction efforts through 2018.
On Friday, the company notified its workforce of facility consolidations, closures and job reductions occurring in seven states and China.
