Will MSU or Ole Miss Be the Better Football Team Next Season?

This weekend, Corinth Today asked residents which football team they think will be better next season— Ole Miss or Mississippi State. Last week, recruits decided which school they will play for. Corinth Today spoke with the residents at Plaza Bowling Lanes, Juju’s Shrimpboat Cafe and downtown.
Peyton Mitchell, Corinth: “Ole Miss without a doubt. They worked harder on their recruitments this year. They got after them. Some players said Mississippi State didn’t want them as bad as Ole Miss did, and I think that’s what’s going to help them out next season.”
Nelson Hight, Corinth: “Don’t ask me to lie because I don’t want to say. It looked like Ole Miss got the cream of the crop, but I’m still a Bulldog. I still pray for miracles there.”
Landon Miles, Corinth: “It’s really hard to tell. Mississippi State got quite a few defensive linemen on sign day, but Ole Miss has a really good offense plus they’ve got Chad Kelly coming back. It’s really hard to tell, but I think State’s defensive line will be able to stop Ole Miss’ run game though, so I think Kelly will have to do more passing than he has been doing.”
Jared Hight, Corinth: “Always Mississippi State . . . It doesn’t matter what stars you have. It matters what the coach does at the end of the day with your team, so I still believe the Bulldogs are going to take it through.”
Roger Clark, Corinth: “I’m going to say Ole Miss, because they look like they’ve upped their game a little bit. I’m just going to give them a chance to see how they do. I think they’ll do good though.”
Shelva Curlee, Corinth: “I think Mississippi State. They’re both (Ole Miss and MSU) in top brackets . . . In my opinion I think Mississippi State will be the top team.”
Sam Mathis, Corinth: “Most definitely Ole Miss. Ole Miss got the top recruits in the nation, the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation.”
