Autry Derrick

Funeral services for Autry Derrick, 81, are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 PM until 9 PM and Wednesday from 11 AM until service time at 2 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Autry died on June 10, 2019 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born in Alcorn Co. on January 27, 1938 to the late Clifton P. and Pearl Hamm Derrick. Autry was a great storyteller and always had a joke to tell. His passion was playing, singing and listening to bluegrass music. He was highly skilled in woodworking and made beautiful fiddles and guitars. He was a hard worker. He logged, had manufacturing jobs and worked for Patrick Home Center until his retirement. He attended Bethlehem Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Derrick; daughters, Wanda Garrett (Mike) and Rhonda Mullins; granddaughters, Molly Mullins and Chelsea Waldon (Justin); great-grandchildren, Brentlee Tate Waldon and Garrett William Waldon; brother, Ray Derrick (Paulette); sisters, Vera Crum and Ida Jones and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roosevelt and Gene Derrick and sisters, Lily Derrick and Shirley Ricketts.

Pallbearers will be James Box, Bobby Garrett, Keith Settlemires, Benny Jones, Kerry Fiveash, Donnie Settlemires, Brandon Mills, and David Moss.

Honorary pallbearers are Mancel Mills, W.C. Settlemires, Ray Settlemires, Stevie Settlemires, Brad Moss, Bud Bates, Brentlee Waldon and Garrett Waldon.

Service will be officiated by Bro. Trent Nethery and Autry’s nephew, Will Jones will provide the eulogy.
