Walmart employees are getting a new look as the well-known blue vest is being replaced with an updated design.
The new “eye-catching” vests will have a “modernized style,” according to Walmart. Supercenter associates will receive a steel gray vest with blue trim.
The new vests “will have a pop of color that’s very visible in a busy store,” according to Walmart. They will be made out of recycled bottles, and the pockets will be bigger to carry equipment needed for jobs.
Later this year, Walmart will allow employees to customize their vests so they can bring their “own style” to work.
“Uniforms are important, but looking exactly like everyone else isn’t,” a Walmart statement said. “We all want to be able to express who we are, and the new Walmart vest will allow associates to do just that.”
All employees will get an updated vest for free while the customized vests will cost $11.
Last year the store changed its dress code to allow employees to wear clothes they feel more comfortable in such as jeans or tennis shoes.
