An Iuka man and Savannah, Tenn. woman have been charged in the death of her husband, authorities said Thursday.
The suspects, Christopher Mailhot and Elaina Michelle White, were served with arrest warrants Thursday. They were booked into the Hardin County Correctional Facility and held on a $2 million bond each.
Authorities discovered the body of Jeffery Steven White on Wednesday outside of his home in the 100 block of Young Lane.
“During the course of the investigation, agents and investigators developed information leading to Christopher Mailhot and Elaina Michelle White as the individuals responsible for Jeffery White’s death,” a news release states.
Mailhot, 21, is charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
White, 38, is charged with one count of criminal responsibility for first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.
The case was a joint effort of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Savannah Police Department and the 24th District Attorney General’s Office.
