A Corinth woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly hiding marijuana, tobacco and paraphernalia in the female lobby bathroom at the county jail, Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell said.
The suspect, Geraldine Price, 61, allegedly put 24 grams of marijuana, 1 pound of tobacco and several items of paraphernalia in the jail lobby restroom, a sheriff’s office news release states.
County correctional officers on Monday discovered that someone had attempted to hide the contraband in the bathroom, and Price was identified as the suspect, the release says.
A warrant was issued for Price’s arrest, and she was taken into custody Thursday and transported to the Alcorn County Jail.
She was charged with introducing contraband into a correctional facility — a felony — and was still in jail Friday.
The investigation was conducted by jail staff and Alcorn County Narcotics Investigator Lucas Wooten.
Bond has not been set at this time.
