By Josh Mitchell/Corinth Today

A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident Wednesday afternoon in Corinth, police said.

Charges are pending against the suspect, who was taken into custody Thursday morning after a traffic stop, said Corinth Police Department Detective Capt. Dell Green.

The suspect’s name may be released Friday, Green said.

Corinth Police on Wednesday responded to the 1600 block of East Sixth Street in reference to a gunshot wound victim.

The victim has been identified as Corey McGaha, 41, of Corinth.

He was transported to Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth and then to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was in critical condition, Green said.

An earlier report incorrectly stated that the victim was transported to Regional One Health in Memphis.
