Mrs. Marian Ramona Hood Purvis, 82, passed peacefully from this life, Friday, January 4, 2019, at her residence. A celebration of her life is schedule for Tuesday, January 8, 2019, 2 PM, in the Chapel of Corinthian Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Haney and Mitch Moore will officiate the service. Her family will receive guests on Monday evening, January 7, from 5-8 PM, and again on Tuesday, Noon until service time.
Born on January 19, 1936, in Alcorn County, Mississippi, to M. E and Thelma Bingham Hood, she was the wife of the late Thomas Calvin “Tommy” Purvis, Sr. A graduate of Corinth High School, she served as a nurse for Dr. Stanley Hill for 30 plus years, she was a floral designer, and artist. A member of Pinecrest Baptist Church, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Thomas Calvin “Chip” Purvis, Jr., and a daughter, Penny Ann Purvis Chambers.
She is survived by a daughter, Christy Farris, a daughter-in-love, Susan Purvis (Gary) Wren, a sister, Norma Hood (James Larry) Essary, grandchildren: Thomas Calvin “Rusty” Purvis, III, Dusty Purvis (Casey) Kyle, Tyler Chambers, Shea Chambers, Sarah Grace Moore, Emilee Farris; four great-grandchildren: Cadan Kyle, Caitlee Kyle, Thomas Calvin “Dru” Purvis, IV, and Rivers Purvis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Tommy Calvary, Bill Essary, Jason Essary, Jeremy Essary, Bobby Purvis, and Johnny Purvis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Barron, Joshua Essary, Joe Knight, and Jimmy Purvis.
