While the Tupelo Automobile Museum is set to close, Alcorn County is getting ready to see one open.

Dream Riderz, which is currently under construction on U.S. Highway 45 in Biggersville, is expected to open in the spring, possibly in April.

With the Tupelo Automobile Museum crossing the finishing line, Dream Riderz in Alcorn County could see a boost as it starts its engines.

Dream Riderz will showcase about 65 vehicles ranging from a motorcycle to a tank, and also have muscle cars, an antique Model A, an historic fire truck and many other unique rides.

The museum plans to have a grand opening with a cruise-in.

A Dream Riderz spokesman said he is sad to see the closure of the Tupelo Automobile Museum, saying the facility had an impressive collection. However, the closure of the Tupelo site could drive tourism traffic to Alcorn County to see the museum here once it opens.

Dream Riderz will be about 20,000 square feet compared to the Tupelo Automobile Museum, which is about 120,000 square feet. The Dream Riderz site allows for future expansion if needed.

Ultimately, Dream Riderz says its museum will preserve history just as the Tupelo Automobile Museum has done over the years.

Dream Riderz will also be involved in some vehicle brokering and plans to have some cars on loan from area residents to display.
