Many Christmas Events Scheduled Saturday in Corinth

A sled full of Christmas events will take place in Corinth on Saturday.

A wassail festival, gingerbread market, holiday parade of lights, tree lighting and Christmas village are among the festivities on tap.

Schedule of the Saturday Events:

Gingerbread Market, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Franklin Courtyard, Wick Street. Decorate gingerbread houses and cookies, and shop vendors from across the state who will bring pottery, art, jewelry and clothes. Singing and dancing entertainment. Free.

Jolly Jog for Havis’ Kids, 10 a.m., 501 Main St.

Wassail Festival, Starts at 10 a.m., more than 15 downtown merchants will serve their special wassail recipes. Attendees will be issued ballots to judge the recipes, and those who sample all of the flavors will be entered into a drawing for $100 in Main Street dollars. Free.

Christmas Parade, 5 p.m., downtown, starts at First Baptist Church, runs down Fillmore Street, turns on Cruise and then to Taylor Street.

Tree Lighting at Courthouse, 6 p.m., a 30-foot tall Christmas tree on the front lawn of the Alcorn County Courthouse will be illuminated with 11,000 bulbs after the parade.

Throughout the Season

Christmas Village, Throughout December a Christmas Village will be on display in the C.A.R.E Garden downtown at the corner of Wick and Fillmore streets. It features a Post Office where children can mail letters to Santa. Several decorated structures in the village are great for family photos. There is also a large Christmas tree in honor of Susie Coleman, who passed away from breast cancer in 2008.

Lights on Top of Downtown Buildings,ย Downtown is glowing this season thanks to 5,500 lights across the tops of downtown buildings. The lights will be on display through December.
