Mrs. Baker died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Country Cottage in Corinth. Born in Booneville on Feb. 3, 1939, to Kelley A. Wroten and Gertrude Bell Wroten, she married and moved to Aurora, Illinois, where she had a son, Boyd Lee Potts, in 1957. She met the love of her life, Kenneth James Baker, and they married on March 25, 1962. Betty and Ken loved to travel in their motor home, especially in the western United States. They settled in Colorado and, eventually, Wyoming, where they owned and managed various rental properties. She also lived in New Port Richey, Florida. She made a lot of friends in her travels and enjoyed keeping up with the friendships throughout her lifetime. She remained close with her family in Mississippi and maintained loving relationships with her stepdaughters, Frances L. Thompson and Vicky R. Baxter. In 2016, as Parkinson’s disease progressed, she moved to Mississippi to be close to family. Her niece, Linda Johnston, served as caregiver.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Vester Wroten.

Survivors include her sister, Edith Hughes of Booneville; her son, Boyd L. Potts and his wife, Gail DeRuzzo, of Littleton, Mass.; her stepdaughter, Frances L. Thompson and her husband, Glenn, of Sleepy Hollow, Ill., and their children, Alexander and Matthew; her stepdaughter, Vicky R. Baxter of Elgin, Ill., and her children, Sean, Mitch and Zachary; a niece, Linda Johnston and her husband, Nickey, and their sons, Jebb and Jeremy, of Corinth; nephews Jimmy Hughes and his wife, Louise, of Booneville, and Kelley Wroten and his wife, Shirley, of West Memphis, Ark.; and other nieces and nephews and special friends all over the U.S.
