Changes are underway at the Rienzi Library with a new head librarian.
Rienzi Head Librarian Destiny Dunn said she loves the people of Rienzi and really enjoys the “very calm and peaceful” atmosphere.
The people of Rienzi are “very loving,” Dunn said. It is easy to see that Dunn cares about the community and wants to make the library the best it can be.
She has already started to increase circulation by getting more people to register at the Rienzi Library. Likewise, she is working to get the community, including a local Christian academy, involved in library programs. The library recently hosted Halloween activities for children, and Dunn taught them the Dewey Decimal system.
Dunn is always changing the displays at the library to keep the atmosphere fresh. New books and DVDs for children and adults continually arrive, and there is always a book/DVD sale taking place.
The library is “extremely important” to the Rienzi community, especially for the children, Dunn noted.
She is also spreading the word about the library with materials such as bookmarks and fliers.
The Rienzi Library is part of the Northeast Regional Library, which has its main branch in Corinth with other locations in Baldwyn, Belmont, Blue Mountain, Booneville, Burnsville, Chalybeate, Iuka, Marietta, Ripley, Tishomingo and Walnut.
The Rienzi Library is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
