Corinth Warrior Zach Patterson Scored Five TDs
Corinth High School football player Zach Patterson has been named Wendy’s statewide Giant of the Week after the team’s win over the New Albany Bulldogs last Friday.
Patterson, a senior, carried the ball 10 times and amassed 164 yards rushing, an impressive 16 yards per carry average. He scored three rushing touchdowns and returned a kickoff for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Patterson also had a “pick six,” returning an interception 29 yards for a touchdown. In total, Patterson accounted for 401 all-purpose yards and scored five touchdowns.
Wendy’s Giant of the Week recognizes a Mississippi high school student athlete each week for outstanding performance on the gridiron.
Wendy’s franchisees throughout the state of Mississippi have partnered with Russ Robinson’s Friday Night Under The Lights in selecting and honoring the Giant of the Week.
Each Giant of the Week gets special recognition at a school pep rally and a commemorative plaque. In honor of each winner, Wendy’s makes a $250 donation to the booster program for the school.
The Giant of the week is announced at 10 p.m. every Thursday on WLBT Channel 3 (Jackson) throughout the Mississippi high school football season.
