Services to celebrate the life of Dorothy Hodum, 74, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Union Baptist Church. Dorothy died on September 24, 2018 at Magnolia Regional Health Centers.
She was born in Alcorn County on July 18, 1944 to the late Samuel and Daisy Sanders Caldwell. She retired from World Color after 29 years as an assistant machine tender. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and loved her Ladies Day Out with her church family. She enjoyed eating at Dinner Bell, canning jelly, watching westerns and wrestling but most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Downs (Wade); sister, Betty Butler; nieces, Sonya Collums (Jeff) and Joy Caldwell; great-nieces and nephews, Aubrey, Reese, and Sawyer Collums; sister-in-law’s, Sandra Caldwell and Nita Pett (Larry Tennyson) and a special friend, Mary Collums.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Hodum; son, Randy Hodum; brother, Jimmy Caldwell and nephew, Chuck Butler.
Pallbearers will be Dee Suitor, Jr., Terry Hudson, Doug Sanders, Keith Downs, Robert Rider, and Scotty Glidewell. Honorary pallbearers will be Wade Downs, Jeff Collums, Larry Tennyson, Sawyer Collums and Elbert Lee Null. Bro. Raybon Richardson will officiate the service.
