A man has been charged with simple assault and assault on a minor — both misdemeanors — after an incident early Saturday on Horton Circle, Corinth Police said.
The suspect, Quinton McLemore, 28, of Hickory Flat, was also wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Corinth Police Capt. Dell Green said.
Authorities responded to a disturbance call at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday and found a distressed female with a small child, Green said. Police were told that a male inside the residence had allegedly assaulted the woman and the child, Green added.
McLemore refused to come out of the residence when police attempted to speak with him, Green said. Police were ultimately able to talk McLemore out of the house about two hours later around 4:30 a.m.
The female was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries, Green said.
