An Alcorn County man who was indicted less than two years ago for alleged sexual crimes against two children was arrested Monday on a new indictment involving a different child, court records show.

Butler

Bobbie Wade Butler, 38, was indicted by an Alcorn County grand jury in August for alleged inappropriate contact with a child in May.

That means Butler is accused of having illegal contact with a child less than two years after he was indicted on six counts involving two other children.

A four-count indictment from 2016 alleges that Butler had inappropriate contact with a child in 2012 and 2016. And Butler was also indicted in 2016 for alleged illegal contact with another child about two years ago.

He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges in the two 2016 indictments, and those cases are still working their way through Alcorn County Circuit Court.

Butler was arrested Monday in Prentiss County by the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office.

Butler is being held in Alcorn County Jail without bond, Sheriff Ben Caldwell said.
