Robert Williams heard a lot about Corinth and Alcorn County real estate at the family dinner table when he was growing up.

His dad started Bailey Williams Realty in Corinth in 1970, and almost 50 years later the business is stronger than ever.

The company is having a record year at this point with just over $20 million in residential sales volume in Alcorn County. Bailey Williams Realty has nearly half of the residential sales volume in the local market, Multiple Listing Service figures show.

Many people choose Bailey Williams for their real estate needs because of the firm’s decades of experience, institutional knowledge and love for the community, Robert noted.

The firm has six licensed Realtors with a combined total of more than 70 years of experience. Robert, Prentiss Butler, Ron Renfrow and Mike Glisson are licensed in Mississippi and Tennessee, and Ashley Blount and April Hill are licensed in Mississippi.

“We all like Corinth and enjoy living here,” said Robert, who was a certified public accountant in Memphis for two years after college before returning home to join the family business.

Robert has served twice as president of the local economic development group, The Alliance, and is also a past president of Main Street Corinth. He has shown his love for the community by investing in large-scale projects to improve the quality of life. He grew up in downtown Corinth and enjoys being part of its revitalization.

Recently, Robert and business partner Zane Elliott converted a large run-down building into an attractive and thriving space. It now houses upscale apartments with balconies, boutiques and The Alliance’s office in the downtown SoCo District.

Robert’s dad, Bailey Williams, has also played a big role in developing the community over the decades. He was a principle player in several successful residential subdivisions in Corinth and condos at Pickwick.

Robert bought Bailey Williams Realty from his dad 15 years ago. His dad was a Realtor for 47 years, and Robert will reach 20 years in the profession in October. His dad still stops by the office regularly.

With its long history, Bailey Williams has a thorough understanding of the real estate market, including the economic cycles and the history of the houses.

A joke at the firm is, “We’ve known all the dirt since 1970.”

Bailey Williams Realty has stood the test of time and continues to grow because the focus has always been on listening to the clients and meeting their needs, Robert said. This goes for those buying and selling homes and for tenants of rental properties, he said.

The current real estate market in Corinth is strong, but there is a lack of housing inventory locally and nationally, Robert said. This is due to a big slowdown in new home construction that occurred during the years of the economic downturn, he noted.

Bailey Williams Realty still maintains a wide selection of properties, and the inventory can be viewed at the firm’s website—corinthhomes.com. Bailey Williams also has technology that allows clients to take 3-D virtual tours of homes online.

Bailey Williams Realty is located in downtown Corinth at 504 Foote St. and can be reached at .
