Roger’s Supermarket on Cass Street in Corinth now lets customers place grocery orders by telephone, text message and email.
Roger’s employees will do the shopping for the customers, who can then pick their orders up at the curbside without leaving the vehicle or have the groceries delivered.
It’s called Roger’s Personal Shopper and Curbside Pickup, and employees are diligent about getting the customers’ orders correct.
“I want it to be just like they are standing here pushing the buggy,” said Roger’s owner Brian Gardner.
His dad started the business with a focus on customer service, and that remains true today, Gardner added.
Society is headed more in the direction of this type of delivery and pick-up service when it comes to consumer goods, he noted.
“I want that order to be as perfect as possible,” Gardner said. “I think the beauty of it is that it’s so simple.”
The goal is to make life easier, he said, adding, “Let us do your shopping for you. Everyone is busy and has so much going on.”
Signs advertising the service were put up Monday in front of Roger’s. The hometown grocery store has been offering the service for a number of months but went fully public with it on Monday.
It has worked well for a wide range of people such as young families, senior citizens and those facing medical issues, Gardner said.
Customers can place grocery orders Monday through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and about an hour or so is needed to gather the items. Orders can be picked up as late as 8 p.m., and customers do not even have to leave their vehicles to pay.
There is no cost for the pick-up service, but there is a fee for the delivery, which is done through Mobile Menus of Corinth. Mobile Menus charges a 15 percent fee on orders below $50, and 10 percent for order above $50.
The curbside pickup and delivery service is only offered at Roger’s at this time, not the family’s other store, Gardner’s, on U.S. Highway 72 East in Corinth.
