A highly visible intersection that serves as a gateway to downtown Corinth and has suffered from blight is getting a facelift after a local developer purchased the triangular parcel that contains three buildings.

Darrell Duncan’s company bought the property that is bordered by South Fillmore, Tate and Franklin streets near the downtown Corinth SoCo District.

“We want a good introduction into downtown on Fillmore Street—that’s my goal,” said Duncan.

Only one of the three buildings has set plans for a future business, and that is the red brick structure with the large windows along Tate Street. (More photos below).

The Sparks CPA Firm, currently located downtown next to the courthouse, will own that building, said Beth Cossitt, a CPA and the firm’s resident manager in Corinth. The accounting firm has been in its current location by the courthouse for eight years.

Cossitt said the Sparks CPA Firm, which also includes CPA Brad Brawner and other staff, should be in the building by the first of the year.

The building will be gutted and totally revamped, and the renovation is being done by Duncan’s company, 3-D Construction of Corinth, Cossitt noted.

The new location will be great for the CPA firm because it will allow for more street parking and room for 14 offices, which is more than double the size of the current firm, said Cossitt. The firm plans to add more staff by the end of the year.

Cossitt said she is excited about the project and that the renovation will maintain an historic look to the building.

The building will be one of the first structures people see as they drive into downtown. There are plans to incorporate sidewalks and green space around the building, she added.

“It’s going to look nice,” Cossitt said. “We’re going to make it something Corinth is going to be proud of.”
