A new hunting and fishing store with an electronic and actual bow-shooting range is being planned on U.S. Highway 72 West in Corinth just west of the U.S. Highway 45 intersection.
Mark Austin said he expects the 6,000-square foot building will be open sometime in mid-2019.
Dirt work has been conducted at the site, which is located between Big A Auto Sales and Huddle House.
The business will feature a virtual “techno” archery range in which people can shoot special arrows at animals displayed on a large computerized screen. There will also be an actual shooting bow shooting range.
Austin said the business plans to sell archery equipment, guns, ammunition, fishing supplies, outdoor apparel, knives and many other hunting items.
Plans for the project have been submitted to the city building department.
Austin feels the business’ location on U.S. Highway 72 West near the U.S. 45 intersection will work well for people from the Kossuth area, as well as Ripley, Walnut and nearby Tennessee counties.
Moreover, Austin said many hunters from Alabama and other areas travel U.S. 72 West through Corinth to go duck hunting in Arkansas.
Austin previously worked for about two decades in the hunting and fishing retail business.
The area where the outdoor business is proposed to be located has seen significant growth recently, including a new eye clinic and surgery center currently under construction.
