A man was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison on a methamphetamine charge Thursday in Alcorn County Circuit Court.

Anthony Scott Merryman of New Site pleaded guilty to possession of 10 to 30 grams of meth with intent to sell.

Alcorn County Circuit Court Judge Jim Pounds sentenced Merryman to 30 years in prison with 10 years suspended and 20 to serve.

The charge Merryman pleaded guilty to was reduced from his original charge. He was originally indicted in April on a charge of trafficking 30 grams or more of meth in Alcorn County on Jan. 22.

Merryman will be under post-release supervision for five years once he is released from prison.

His sentence will run concurrently with time he is serving in Tishomingo County.
