Mr. Charles “Pop” Holloway, age 79, of Corinth, Mississippi, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, 11 AM, at Church of the Crossroads, 2037 US-72, Corinth. Bro. Nelson Hight and Bro. Jared Hight will be officiating. Committal will follow in Forest Memorial Park.
He was born March 31, 1939, in Alcorn County, Mississippi, to C. H. “Quint” and Dora Lee Higginbottom Holloway. For 50 years he was married to the love of his life, the late Martha Pearl Mitchell Holloway. A member of Church of the Crossroads for 39 years, he served as an usher for many of those years. He enjoyed going to auctions, fishing, deep sea fishing, playing cards, dominos, and checkers. Some would say he was a “champ at checkers”. For the last 8 years, Charles grew close to a dog named Tucker and Tucker loved him just as much, but most of all “Pops” loved spending time with friends and family.
He worked many places among which were ITT, Pepsi, selling insurance and Electrolux Vacs. He also sold Standard Coffee. Most recently he drove a school bus for the Corinth School District.
Survived by his daughter, Regina Kay Mills (Kenny), he had two grandchildren: Ken Mills (Melanie) and Kristyn Neidig (Adrian); and four great-grandchildren: Marley Mills, Aidan Mills, Ella Mills and Johnna Mills. He leaves special friends: Fran Tidwell, Tammy Blakney, and Sue Tucker.
Preceding him in death are: his parents, his wife, and his grandfather, Doc Holloway , and his grandmother, Dora Lee Holloway
Pallbearers are: Mikky Jones, Nathaniel “Nat” Rodgers, Mark Mills, Reece Terry, Adrian Essary, Donnie Little, Nick McCalister, and Billy Alford.
