Log Truck Crashes Near Kossuth Friday

Officials responded to a log truck rollover crash on State Highway 2 near Kossuth on Friday at about 2 p.m.

An 18-wheeler truck carrying a load of timber rolled on its side and came to rest on the side of a hill.

Timber spilled out of the truck and rolled down the hill.

The crash happened near the building with the Red-Eye Saloon sign near the intersection of State Highway 2 and County Road 561 , or about seven miles southwest of Kossuth schools.

It was unclear if there were any serious injuries, but an ambulance responded to the scene along with the Kossuth Volunteer Fire Department, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities were waiting on a tow truck to arrive on scene to remove the log truck.
