Corinth and Iuka customers routinely make the short drive to University Hyundai in Tuscumbia, Ala. because of the dealership’s large selection and good prices, General Manager Brannon Craig said.

“We get a lot of customers who come from over that way to look at vehicles,” Craig said.

University Hyundai in Tuscumbia gives its customers a lot of buying power because it is part of a larger family of 13 dealerships, he noted.

“Just about every make and model and franchise that’s available for sale we do offer at one of our locations,” Craig added.

The different dealerships work well together to make sure customers are treated right, Craig noted.

“Customer service has to be our No. 1 priority here,” Craig said. “As long as we take care of our customers they’re going to take care of us.”

University Hyundai will even drive vehicles to the Corinth area to show people.

“We do that quite a bit over in that market,” Craig said. “We’re like the old-school doctors, we still make house calls. It’s all about taking care of our customers and going that extra step.”

The dealership has many repeat customers and referral business, Craig noted.

“I want you to tell everyone where you got that car and how well you were treated so you send me all your friends and your family,” he said.

In fact, Craig tells his employees to act as though they are selling a vehicle to their mom or sister.

Other than excellent customer service, University Hyundai also sells a stellar line of vehicles, Craig said. Hyundai is synonymous with safety and reliability, and the 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty is one of the best in the nation, he added. The strong warranty shows the high level of confidence that Hyundai has in its vehicles, he said.

Moreover, Hyundai customers have the satisfaction of knowing that the vehicle is manufactured in the United States, including at a plant in Montgomery, Ala.

University is also very involved in the local community, supporting many good causes, including autism.

Of the University family’s 13 dealerships, seven are right in the Muscle Shoals area, a short distance from Corinth. The University Hyundai dealership is less than one hour from Corinth.

Within a block of University Hyundai there are several other dealerships that are part of the same family. This offers customers much convenience and a large selection.

“If a consumer is looking for a vehicle, the University group offers it at some point, somewhere,” Craig said.

A new Toyota dealership is next door to University Hyundai in Tuscumbia, a Chevy dealership is on the same block and a Kia dealership is just a mile down the road. Customers can also cross the river into Florence to visit the Honda, Nissan and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealerships in the University family.

The University dealerships in the Shoals area also have a large selection of quality preowned vehicles, Craig added. The University Hyundai website shows preowned inventory from the various dealerships along with CARFAX reports for customers’ convenience.

“We have something to fit every budget,” Craig said, adding that a great credit rebuilding program is also available. “We offer upfront, transparent pricing.”

University Hyundai in Tuscumbia stocks about 150 new vehicles, including sedans, SUVs and small cars. The Hyundai Santa Fe SUV is popular as is the sporty Veloster. A brand new Hyundai Sonata sedan can be purchased for under $20,000, and the Hyundai Accent economy car can be bought new for under $14,000.

Hyundai is currently refreshing the design of its vehicles, and the “unbelievable” 2019 Veloster sports coupe launches in July, Craig said. Hyundai has also introduced a new small SUV called the Kona, which has a spacious interior, attractive design and good price in the low 20s, he added.

The preowned vehicles undergo a 120-point inspection so any issues can be identified before they are sold. Most of the issues are fixed, and vehicles as low as $3,000 are available, he said.

Qualified technicians work in the University Hyundai service department. An oil change and tire rotation is “priced right” at only $35, and all major brands of tires are sold at a “discounted rate that is hard to beat,” he said.

If University Hyundai in Tuscumbia does not have what a customer is looking for, it is very likely another dealership in the family does.

Craig has been in the automotive sales business for 25 years and has ties to the Mississippi market. He was employed for 15 years at a Brookhaven dealership where he served as general sales manager.

University Hyundai in Tuscumbia is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.. It is located at 122 Highway 43 S., Tuscumbia, Ala., and can be reached at (877) 900-0790 or online at
