Special Olympics athletes received lots of encouragement from the Alcorn Central student body on Tuesday morning.
Cheerleaders, dance team members and the band held a pep rally for the Special Olympics athletes, who will compete Wednesday at Tupelo High School. (Photo gallery below).
Special education teacher Taylor Glidewell said it was great that the school showed such strong support for the athletes. It was a fun and exciting way to send them off to the competition, she added.
Cheerleader coach Amy Smith said there are pep rallies for other sports and that her squad wanted the Special Olympics athletes to know that they are important and part of the school family.
