A woman was transported by ambulance to Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth on Wednesday afternoon after her vehicle crashed into a tree.
The wreck occurred near the intersection on U.S. Highway 45 and County Road 517 at around 2 p.m. in Alcorn County.
The woman’s pickup truck left the roadway, traveled up an embankment and struck a tree, causing serious damage to the vehicle, said Biggersville Fire & Rescue Chief Jonathan Rider. The woman was conscious after the wreck, Rider said.
She was the only person in the vehicle, but there were also several puppies inside, Rider said. It appeared the puppies survived and had been in a portable kennel prior to the wreck.
The wreck happened on the northbound side of U.S. 45.
The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office, Magnolia EMS and the Southwest Volunteer Fire Department also assisted.
