A Celebration of Life Service for Dennis “Dwight” Duckworth, 59, is set for 3:30 pm Thursday at McPeters Inc. Funeral Directors with Dr. Lynn Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Forrest Memorial Park.
On March 17, 2018, Dwight went home to be with his “Sweet Jesus.”Dwight was a resident of Tishomingo, MS. Born in Baldwin, MS on February 9, 1959, Dwight is the second of J.D. and Oplean Duckworth. He was the second of ten children. In his own words, Dwight was a “simple man with a simple faith.” He pondered deep and loved even deeper. Master mechanic, “top-dog” truck driver, and talented musician, Dwight’s charisma, sense of humor, and love of life will be missed by all.
Dwight was preceded in death by his father, John David Duckworth, his younger brothers Thorthony, Jimmy Dwayne, Timothy O’Neal, and a nephew, Christopher Lynn.
Dwight leaves behind his loving wife, best friend, and partner-in-crime of 42 years, Ella Marie Duckworth; mother Oplean Owens Duckworth: his mother-in-law Doris Frye of San Saba, TX He also leaves behind two beloved daughters, Cassandra Stafford, of Searcy, AR and Trish Duckworth of Burnsville, MS. He was the treasured grandfather of four grandchildren: Ashton, Samuel, Jaycie, and Gabriella. At the young age of 59, he had also just recently been blessed with the joy of a great grandson, Emmett Fleming.
Dwight leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and wonderful friends that were considered family because that is how Dwight loved.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 9:00 and Thursday from 2:00 until service time.
