Person Airlifted After Monday Wreck on U.S. 45 in Biggersville

A person was airlifted after a vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 45 South in Biggersville on Monday.

Authorities responded to the crash by the 45 Truck Stop at around 11:45 a.m.

The Air Evac rescue helicopter landed in the southbound lane of U.S. 45 to transport the patient.

It appeared the wreck involved an SUV and an 18-wheeler.

The SUV was badly damaged and came to rest just south of the truck stop.

Details on the wreck were unclear. Alcorn County Emergency Management Agency Director Ricky Gibens referred questions to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office, Biggersville Fire and Rescue, Magnolia Ambulance, Southwest Volunteer Fire Department, Alcorn County Constable Wayne Duncan and other officials responded to the crash.
