The Alcorn Central Elementary School cafeteria was turned into Seussville on Friday in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

The cafeteria employees spent their own money and came in over the weekend to decorate the cafeteria with Dr. Seuss decorations.

Covers of Dr. Seuss books and large cutouts of Dr. Seuss characters were displayed on the walls. Inspirational messages from Dr. Seuss, such as “You’ll move mountains,” were also presented.

Other decorations hung from the ceiling, and employees made Dr. Seuss shirts and dressed up as characters such as the Cat in the Hat and Thing One and Thing Two.

Children also wore blue hairdos made out of paper and were treated to a large Dr. Seuss birthday cake.

Alcorn School District Child Nutrition Director Peggie Bundy said, “I’m so impressed” with what the cafeteria workers did to make it a special time for the children.

Other school cafeterias around the Alcorn School District also celebrated.
