Bible With Cocaine Seized at Jail, Sheriff Says

Jolona Nicole Lambert

Staff reports

A Corinth woman was arrested Friday for allegedly attempting to deliver a Bible containing cocaine to an inmate, Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell said.

Jolona Nicole Lambert, of 54 County Road 192, was arrested by Alcorn County narcotics investigator Adam Rencher on a charge of introduction of contraband into a correctional facility, a sheriff’s office news release said.

Alcorn County Jail Administrator Steve Wilburn on Monday notified Rencher that a female delivered a Bible to the facility for an inmate.

Some pages in the Bible had been glued together and allegedly contained a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine, the news release said.

Alcorn County Justice Court Judge Jimmy McGee set Lambert’s bond at $5,000, and she had a hold placed on her by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
