When the Grisham family of Corinth was hit with a serious health issue, they worked hard, stayed strong and relied on their faith.
That same determined spirit has also guided Grisham Insurance, a longstanding Corinth family business that Deanna Grisham started 34 years ago.
Now, Deanna is very proud of her sons, Ben and Chris, for carrying on the family business. Her boys are equally proud of the foundation she established, and the family gives all the glory to God.
A couple of years ago, Deanna was diagnosed with an inflammatory condition that weakened her muscles. The medication she took impacted her spine, which led to a broken back. Deanna has rebounded from these difficulties and still works in the family business.
The Grishams understand from personal experience how difficult unexpected events can be. Grisham Insurance is a compassionate company that is grateful for the opportunity to help people during life’s tough times, they added.
As an independent agent, Grisham Insurance represents the interests of the clients by finding the best coverage and rates, they said.
Located at 1900 E. Shiloh Road, Grisham Insurance is a full-service agency offering coverage from more than 100 providers. Its “anchor” provider, Aflac, provides great coverage and has not raised rates on its core products in 60 years, Ben said.
Chris specializes in the senior market, helping clients with Medicare supplements, final expenses and long-term care insurance.
The agency is licensed in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas and represents individuals, private companies and government entities.
Ben and Chris say their mom and dad taught them how to work hard to achieve success. Their dad, Wayne, retired from Sysco after more than 35 years and exemplified dedication by never missing a day of work, Ben noted.
From their parents, Ben and Chris learned what it means to serve clients. Grisham Insurance efficiently processes claims so payments can be made in a timely manner.
The agency’s location on East Shiloh Road is among the many changes that have occurred over the years. The agency was in the Harper Square Mall for 25 years, and now the Grishams love their current location, which gets lots of traffic.
As time has progressed, so have the ways people file claims. Ben recalled days when people sent claims through the mail and later over fax, and now much of the process is handled online. Some people still like to sit down face to face.
Working in the insurance field was a good fit for Deanna because it provided a flexible schedule for her to attend her sons’ school and sports events. Ben joined the agency when he graduated college in 1991, and Chris started about 10 years ago.
The family has been very happy with the agency’s growth, which has included offering more types of insurance, such as home, auto and business, to meet the customers’ needs.
