A house caught on fire and several other homes were threatened by flames when a grass fire spread out of control in Farmington around noon Friday.

Fire departments from Farmington, Glen and other jurisdictions responded to the blaze.
The house that caught on fire was on County Road 227, and it was billowing smoke as firefighters battled the blaze.

About an acre of grass behind the house was charred, and grass burned within feet of at least three other homes in the area of County Road 234.

Windy conditions on Friday may have contributed to the fire spreading.

Firefighters quickly responded to the intense situation as the fire threatened several residences.

Information was not immediately available on what may have caused the fire.
