The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office this week made two separate methamphetamine-related arrests, one of which netted about 60 grams, according to Sheriff Ben Caldwell.
The sheriff’s office arrested New Site resident Anthony Scott Merryman, 29, on Monday when he was allegedly found in possession of approximately 60 grams of meth, a sheriff’s office news release says.
Merryman, who has a Highway 4 address in New Site, was allegedly found in possession of the meth after Alcorn County Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Davis stopped a vehicle on Harper Road at about 1:17 p.m. for an alleged traffic violation, the release adds.
Merryman was transported to the Alcorn County Jail and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, and Justice Court Judge Jimmy McGee set bond at $10,000.
In a separate arrest on Sunday, Edward Finch, 29, of Kirkpatrick Road in Selmer, Tenn., was allegedly found in possession of approximately 0.2 grams of meth, the news release says.
Finch was allegedly found in possession of the meth after Alcorn County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Loyd responded to a disturbance call at 397 State Highway 356 in Rienzi.
Finch was arrested and transported to the Alcorn County Jail where he was charged. Judge McGee set Finch’s bond at $5,000
