Corinth-Alcorn County Parks & Recreation continues to work toward improving the playground at Crossroads Regional Park, an official said Friday.
The playground, which was closed last year due to concerns over dated equipment, will ideally reopen by June, said Parks & Recreation Director Ray Holloway.
A recent meeting to discuss playground improvements went well, said Holloway.
The plan now is for parks and recreation to seek proposals from playground companies to see what they can offer to improve the playground. Parks and recreation plans to formally seek proposals from companies in the next few weeks.
Ideally, work on the playground improvements could start around April with the playground reopening around June, Holloway said.
The current playground was built in the early 2000s, and it has sentimental value to some residents, Holloway said.
Some of the existing playground is expected to be preserved while other portions will be updated. New playground equipment is also expected be added.
Holloway said he plans to meet with playground company representatives soon. He said he wants to make sure the improvements are done the right way and that the playground is a place children and families can enjoy.
