The Books-A-Million in Corinth will close its doors for the final time Saturday at 9 p.m.

The bookstore has been in Corinth for 23 years.

Manager Bonnie Guinn said it was a corporate decision to close the store, which is located at 802 S. Cass St.

Many of the regular customers are “very disappointed” the bookstore is closing, Guinn said.

It will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Books-A-Million was founded in 1917 as a corner newsstand in Florence, Ala. and has grown into the second-largest book retailer in the nation. The Birmingham, Ala.-based company operates more than 260 stores in 32 states and the District of Columbia, the website states.

The company could not be reached for comment to discuss specific reasons for the Corinth store closure.

One Response so far.
