A man was airlifted to the hospital after a one-vehicle wreck on State Highway 2 in the Kossuth area on Thursday at about 2:30 p.m.

The Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter landed on Highway 2 to airlift the driver of the pickup truck, Paul Settlemires, 58, of Ripley.

Settlemires was the only person in the truck, and the vehicle came to rest in the front yard of a residence.

It appeared Settlemires was westbound on Highway 2 when he apparently lost control of the truck, which rolled over several times, according to the highway patrol.

Kossuth Fire Chief Adron Hodum said his department cut the door open to free Settlemires from the truck.

Magnolia Ambulance, the Corinth Fire Department, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the sheriff’s office also responded to the wreck.
